"Heaven" holds a deeply personal and vulnerable place in my heart. It stands as a heartfelt tribute to my beloved parents, who were not only the pillars of my life but also the embodiment of love and strength.

During the onset of the pandemic, my beautiful mother fell ill with cancer and ultimately passed away. She was not just my mother but also my best friend, my confidant, and my entire world. At the time, she happened to be visiting friends in the UK, and fortunately, I was also touring the UK, allowing me to be by her side during her most challenging moments. The weight of being far from home, in a foreign land, added an extra layer of complexity and trauma to the situation. Soon after her passing, my sister and I flew back to Australia, carrying our mother's ashes with us.

As if the pain wasn't overwhelming enough, my father, who resided in the UK, also fell ill with cancer. However, due to the restrictions imposed by the pandemic, I was unable to be with him in his final moments. The realization that I couldn't be there for him, compounded by the fact that I couldn't bid him a proper farewell, shattered my heart into a million pieces.

It was on the day my father passed away that I found myself sitting on my veranda, attempting to come to terms with the weight of my grief. In that moment of deep introspection, I instinctively picked up my guitar, and the song "Heaven" flowed effortlessly from within me. The lyrics felt like an intimate conversation with my father, bringing solace and comfort to my shattered heart. To this day, whenever I sing this song, it serves as a tender and profound connection to him.

Recording and producing "Heaven" became a personal journey in itself. With the collaboration of incredible Sunshine Coast session musicians such as Robbie Amhaz on drums, OJ Newcomb and Boi Crompton on bass and electric guitar, and Jacita Simons on violin, the song took on new dimensions of emotion and depth. Working alongside the esteemed Aria winner, Govinda Doyle, as the mixer, and the 12-time Grammy winner, Felipe Tichauer, as the mastermind behind the mastering process, we aimed to create a musical experience that would touch hearts and resonate deeply with listeners.

"Heaven" serves as a poignant reminder for all of us to cherish every precious moment we have with our loved ones and to never take a single second for granted. It stands as a testament to the power of love, the enduring connection between souls, and the profound impact our departed loved ones continue to have on our lives.

I extend my deepest gratitude to each and every one of you for allowing me to share the personal story behind "Heaven." It is my sincerest hope that this song brings solace, comfort, and a sense of connection to those who have experienced the loss of a loved one, reminding us all that their spirit lives on within us.
